A Tuesday morning class at Northwest Technical College was interrupted when a person walked into a crowded classroom and demanded someone bring them a gun, triggering a campus lockdown and a multi-agency police response. Bemidji police responded to the college around 10:40 a.m. after reports of the disturbance. Officers quickly located the person, used crisis intervention techniques to de-escalate the situation, and determined there was no physical threat. Officers secured the building and lifted the lockdown shortly after. The person was taken to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center for a psychiatric evaluation.
