A man is in a life-threatening condition after an ATV crash in rural Minnesota on Wednesday evening. The crash was reported on Grand Avenue in McKinley Township, St. Louis County, around 10:15 p.m., with a call reporting a man with "severe medical trauma" was found lying next to an ATV. Responders arrived to find the 40-year-old man from rural Gilbert semi-responsive next to the ATV. Friends told police they had not witnessed the crash, and found him as they were returning after watching the northern lights together. The injured party had left the group earlier on his ATV, and was not wearing a helmet. Police say alcohol "appears to be a factor." He was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Details of his condition on Thursday have not been provided.
