Apartment Fire

A morning apartment fire in Wilton caused significant damage. The Bemidji Fire Department says crews were called at 10:38 a.m. on Wednesday June 10 to the 200 block of Spirit Avenue Northwest in the city of Wilton for a report of a structure fire. Crews arrived to find smoke coming from a second-story window of a two-story, multi-family building. The apartment where the fire started suffered significant damage. The rest of the building received moderate damage. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but it is believed to be accidental, according to the release. About 30 firefighters and 11 pieces of equipment were on scene for roughly 2 1/2 hours. North Country First Responders, Bemidji Ambulance Service, the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, Otter Tail Power Co. and Red Lake Housing assisted at the scene.
